Jasmine Williamson, BCBA, Clinical Director, Founder

Jasmine was first introduced to the Autistic population during her undergraduate studies where she interned at the Koegel Autism Center at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She loved how unique each Autistic child she met was from one another, and found joy in getting to know their individual qualities and see their progress over time. This experience kickstarted her uncompromising passion working with children on the spectrum.

Initially setting out to be a teacher, Jasmine quickly recognized that the classroom lacked the resources and time for the individualization she believed was necessary for many kids. Jasmine left the classroom and began working as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). After years of feeling the joy that came from the field of ABA and working so closely with Autistic children and their families, a mentor encouraged her to pursue a degree in ABA and the long path to becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

As a BCBA working for various large, corporate, ABA clinics, Jasmine found herself disappointed by decisions made at the administrative level resulting in compromises that affected the quality of RBTs and therefore the quality of care. Now, Jasmine has set out to build an ABA program that is and always will be small in order to foster a team environment and limit the countless frustrations that are necessary in a large clinic or at a large company. Clinically, the treatment Jasmine implements is built on the foundations of her extensive research and years of experience with Practical Functional Assessment, Skill Based Treatment, Pivotal Response Treatment, Relational Frame Theory, and most importantly, Applied Behavior Analysis therapy that feels good for therapists to implement and for families to observe. Allowing children to lead their therapy and be themselves as we include them as equal partners in their progress is a high priority to Jasmine and a principle she is unwilling to negotiate.

In her practice, Jasmine has worked with dozens of families focusing on implementing progressive, individualized interventions that value each child’s unique self. With a focus on caregiver collaboration, Jasmine’s approach to each family looks towards each child’s future and ensures that goals are developed to support independence, happiness, and self-advocacy. Jasmine places a strong emphasis on the parent’s experience and recognizes the difficulty and shock that comes with the diagnosis of ASD. She strives to connect with parents where they’re at in their journey as “Autism Parents,” and support them in learning more about Autism, resources available, education supports, and support them in learning more about their child and how to view them as the incredible gifts to the universe they are.

Jasmine is honored and humbled by every family and team member who chooses to trust her and her vision for a better planet for all people, especially Autistic people. She takes her responsibility to this planet of people in the Autism community extremely seriously and values the relationships she’s been privileged to form over the years. Jasmine is committed to supporting and advising every family along their Autism journey with complete transparency, integrity, compassion, and honesty.

What are Registered Behavior Therapists (RBTs)?!

RBTs work one-on-one with the kids and are required to have high levels of energy as well as high levels of clinical skills to work on each child's intensive treatment plan. RBTs need to manage keeping up with and caring for the kids, creatively engaging them in play, incorporating each kids' goals throughout the day, updating the parent communication log, collecting data, and SO much more! It is an incredibly difficult job, and here at Autism Planet, we only hire heroes and legends to do it!
